HI THERE,
ReWild with YARD is an interactive and playful tool developed by Arup and the LEGO Group Sustainability Team. It brings teachers, urban practitioners, and city leaders together with children and communities to build knowledge and awareness about links between human and natural wellbeing, about climate change and biodiversity in cities, and about how we can rewild urban systems – bringing nature back into our cities.
Piloting ReWild with YARD in Tower Hamlets, London
Through playful learning and design, ReWild with YARD seeks to develop and grow empathy for our living world, and to advocate for nature in our cities, and for the active participation of children and adults in designing and planning rewilding projects. In this way we can create long-lasting changes, which include everyone’s perspective and make nature-positive futures a reality.
ReWild with YARD was piloted in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, in collaboration with 30 students (11-13 years old) and their teachers from the local Bow School. This website provides insights from the pilot phase and tells the story of how these students went on an adventure to rewild the area around their school. Also, it includes learning materials and tools for engagement and co-design workshops, where children can learn about biodiversity and urban rewilding, and can create design ideas to address climate and biodiversity challenges in cities.
